Avocado Dip
try this tasty & simple recipe for a quick way to add healthy fat to your diet
Avocados are a person’s best friend:
I always have avocados on hand because you never know when they will come in handy, like for this last minute dip, for making fudgy brownies, as the finishing touch to a roasted veggie bowl, on an egg sandwich, blended in a smoothie… clearly my list could go on and on and as you might guess, avocados never go to waste in my home! Avocados are what we would consider a healthy fat. They are full of nutrients (potassium, fiber, magnesium, vitamins C, K & E to name a few) and one of my favorite qualities, because of their fat content, they help keep us full longer so we are less tempted to snack. But when that craving calls, here is a recipe for a guacamole alternative, which is a tad tangy thanks to the yogurt.
Ingredients:
1 large peeled and pitted avocado (skin should be dark green or slightly black)
2/3 cup plain, unsweetened yogurt (dairy or dairy-free work. I like this one)
1 diced tomato
squirt of lemon or lime
dash of cayenne pepper for some kick
sea salt & pepper to taste
Directions:
In a small bowl, mash avocado with a fork until very smooth
Add yogurt, tomato, cayenne to the blended avocado and stir until smooth
feel free to use a blender if it’s easier
Add salt & pepper to taste
Serve chilled with mixed raw vegetables or your favorite chips
Notes:
This dip tastes great served chilled - if you have time, try refrigerating for about an hour before serving.
